If you’re like me, this is the time of year that you start to think about brisk mornings, coffee outside on the swing wearing layers of comfy clothes, and feeling good about it! To me, there is nothing quite like it. I live in a busy area but we have a log cabin in the mountains and it’s there that the brisk morning outdoor coffee becomes a gift I give myself every day.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to people about their home, its design, and what are their pros and cons to it. Outdoor living areas are more important to people than I realized. It doesn’t matter if your home is big, small or even a tiny home. People like to spend time in the outside space of home – especially millennials. Spending time with your friends and family is important.

Growing up in Brooklyn NY didn’t allow for much outside space for our home. Our backyard was about 10×20 and surrounded by a metal cyclone fence and yes, a cement ground. As time went on I saw the importance of a grill. I never knew that a metal container that cooked food provided a neutral ground for family and friends. It was like magic! The grill, the seating, the overall space and above all, its intention. It was then that I acquired my love for outdoor spaces and through the years has served me well.

Here is an article that HOUZZ put out 8 Toasty Outdoor Seating Areas  It gives some really cool easy ideas for outdoor space. It could be a patio, a rooftop, or any other space that brings you outside. It’s a bit hard to find writings about outdoor space without seeing pictures of multi-million dollar homes and their outdoor space. But if you do a little research you can find some really cool ideas.

Here’s to Fall and all the wonderful moments you’ll find outside!  ~Valerie
